10:00am – 11:10am How to Draw Your Way Out of a Paper Bag Veronica de Lucca
  So, you say you aren’t artistic? You don’t need to be! This class will demonstrate how to take the very simplest design elements, and turn them into something beautiful. And the best part is, you can use this in illumination, leatherworking, embroidery, wood carving, etc. Kick it up a notch on your next project with these skills!
11:20am – 12:30pm Basic Calligraphy Bernhardt von Eschenbach
  An introduction to the foundations of calligraphy with a dip pen. As a part of the process, we will walk through uncial and finish with the foundations of gothic. No experience or materials needed (though you can bring your own if you like). No class fee. Space/materials first come, first served.
12:40pm – 1:50pm Introduction to Period Calligraphy Materials Mistress Mara Palmer
  An overview of materials used in period in calligraphy and illumination of a manuscript page from beginning to end, as well as where to find / how to make each of them.
2:00pm – 3:10pm Hands-On Making a Leather Pouch
Make & Take with Thyri; a beginner’s leather belt pouch making class. Class is limited to 6 students. Class Fee $5.

Hands-On Pysanky Egg Dyeing
Making Ukranian style Easter eggs using dyes and a wax resist. It’s just like magic when you finally see the colors emerge! This class will take up two class periods.

12:40pm – 1:50pm Bycocket Felt Hat Making
Class will cover techniques needed to created your own bycocket hat, including steam forming the felt, and flat patterning. If you want to make a hat of your own, the class fee for the felt is $15. There is no fee for watching.

2:00pm – 3:10pm Period Braiding Techniques
Come explore how braiding was used in period, and make-and-take your choice of 1 yard of cord, or 3 bookmarks. Materials will be provided for a $1 class fee. Limit 6 participants, but observers are also welcome. Ages 12 and up.
